Pre-Deployment

Well, the time is getting closer and closer. I will be leaving for Afghanistan soon. With such little time to think about it and even less time to pack, the nerves aren't quite kickin in quite yet. Im sure, that once we are en route to our FOB (with all combat gear on), the nerves will kick in very quickly.

SRPed again on tuesday. Got the smallpox vaccine and second anthrax. Sooo, my right arm barely works and the left one itches like crazy. So awesome to have to deal with this so close to deployment. The Army is a little short notice.

I am not 100% sure that I will have internet while I am over there. Hell, I don't even know how often we will get a phone call, but I can't imagine it would be too long before I got one of the two.

These next 9 months are sure to prove if I want to continue my Army career. I am definitely dreading the time difference (9.5 hrs), but adjustment will come with time.

Top Moments At Fort Jackson.

"I was watchin you sleep the other night...."
Oh God, the amount she puked at CVS.
Let's drink in Matt Olson's name. We'll get him that plate.
Never make a "I would fuck list" during formation.
"I want my Commander and my First Sergeant here...cuz I think yall bullshittin me."
Feugill. AWOL.
The bitch slap Evans gave Feugill.
Never hit sergeants with muffins.
"He wants me."
Time for tickles!!!
"Stop being a bitch!" "Fuck you!"
Mooning.

Long Time, No Blog

I am definitely horrible at keeping up with this thing! A lot has happened, most of which I will not go into detail, because it simply doesn't matter. At least not to me.

For starters, stationed at Fort Riley, KS...home of the Big Red One. We went to NTC (National Training Center) where is on Fort Irwin, CA. The month went by slow and was too ready to come home. While I was there, a doctor told me that come cysts on my kidneys were more than likely causing the pain and nausea I have been experiencing since the appendectomy.

I knew my unit was deploying and was doing everything I could to go with them. My 1SG told me that he wanted me to stay back on Rear D (rear detachment: those who are deploying) so that I could work my medical issues out. I was pretty upset, especially since I wasted 33 days of my time that I will never get back (and I am sure it will not be the last time).

Since returning from NTC, we have had multiple people (for different reasons) taken off the deploying list and put on Rear D. Luckily, I kept checking with my squad leader and 1SG, and they removed my name off the Rear D list and put it on the deploying list. Not many people would understand, but I was beyond happy that I would be going overseas with my battles. On the other hand, wasn't too thrilled to come to the conclusion that I would also be spending my 21st birthday in the desert.

Long story short, they gave me 2 weeks notice of my name being on the deploying roster. So, I have been packing like crazy and trying to get everything done that I have so hastily put off (because I thought I was not going). Learned my lesson, yet again, not to procrastinate. So, I am leaving in about a week and a half, to spend 9 months (give or take) in the Paktika Province of Eastern Afghanistan. I will try my best to write before I leave, and also keep up while I am over there.

So, It's Been Awhile...

So yes, it has definitely been a while since I have last posted. Things are pretty much the same, except I have not PCSed to Fort Hood quite yet. Still at the good old Relaxin' Jackson. I hate it.
I've had more tests done, yet a conclusion on the diagnosis has not yet been reached. The theory at the moment, is that the anesthetic that I was given for my appendectomy, was uptaken by my gallbladder, and somehow in the mix, permanently damaged my GB. I was given a HIDA scan, a nuclear test to determine the function of the gallbladder. Normal ranges are from 35%-75%. Mine was performing at a whoping 95%. So, I have a hyperkinetic gallbladder. I'm sick of dealing with it, so I just want them to whip that b**** out and get it over with. I am waiting for another appointment with my GI doc and then hopefully, I will get a referral to talk to the general surgeon to see about taking this thing out.
On the better side, I just got home, on leave, for 2 weeks. I needed this break so bad, because Jackson is driving me absolutely insane!
I am home on 2 weeks of leave. It's been absolutely amazing to be home for a bit. But, on the other side of things, I am ready to get this thing figured out.

Back to Work.

Finally back to work this week. Been working on brakes on the PLS, M1000 and HMMWVs. Wooo fun. But, not really.

Waitin on test results (ANA and Sed. Rate) from the doc. And then, hopefully there will be some sort of answer. Waitin for the permanent profile to waiver situps because apparently Majors dont know how to properly take out an appendix. Pain 24/7 for the past 8 mths. Its horrible.

Other than that, not much is going on. PCSing to Fort Hood in mid-July and I can't wait to get the hell outta here!

Thank You President Obama.

Amazing how something with no vulgarity can be one of the most
insulting and powerful messages to Obama that I have seen to date!

OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT:

Dear Mr. Obama,
Thank you for not going to Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day.
There is something very sacred about that place and about that day.
Those who bled and died for this country deserve to be honored and saluted by people who love their country and honor their sacrifice.
You don't belong there.
